Language learning is not my strong point, and I’m fairly versed in all other linguistic domains, but everyone will tell you I make up for it with my overwhelming uplifting spirit! Besides being a decent linguist, I am actually very passionate about writing. I’ve been writing stories ever since I was a kid, and I’ve always loved seeing people’s personalities shine through their words. That’s why I’m delighted to be working on KAT Blad! Getting to read people’s works and help them along the way in their writing journey is something that I’m immensely looking forward to! I can’t wait to personally contribute with interesting articles pertaining to linguistics as well as support my fellow students in their writing endeavours!

I’ve always been terrible at learning languages… so I might as well dedicate my life to studying everything about them! Inspired by a love for anthropology, I have a passion for learning the ways in which people communicate and how language interacts with self identity and our perception of culture or society on a larger scale. Despite only having a brief history in the field of writing and editing smaller projects, the pandemic has led me to have a desire to explore my creative side further, making KAT Blad an exciting project to be a part of. I can’t wait to contribute to our lovely linguistics community at UvA!

I’ve enjoyed learning languages, as well as learning about languages, for as long as I can remember. I grew up in an environment wherein I was surrounded by many different nationalities, and got to find out about a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Seeing the various ways in which people communicate and express themselves is one of the reasons I’ve pursued my interest in linguistics. Due to some previous experience in the fields of writing and editing, my role at KAT Blad feels like a perfect fit. Together with the rest of the team, I look forward to sharing our interest of the subject with equally enthusiastic readers!

Languages have always been very close to my heart, whether it be the intricacies of how our brains process language or reading literature written centuries ago that feels like home. Language is interwoven with so many aspects of human life, so how those come together to mould a person or a community are the main topics of my interest. Having worked in the field of editing and print publication for a while now, working at KAT Blad seemed like the perfect combination for my skills and interests. As a team, we hope to create a magazine that our readers would love to read, as much as we enjoy curating it!
